The wife of Kebbi state Governor, Dr. Nafisa Nasir Founder Nanas Foundation, has attended the launching of 2024 widows, orphans and vulnerable children support program and the unveiling of Daylight business school (DBS) as part of celebration, marking the 20th anniversary of ZAKI’S GEM support foundation.
The event which took place at the Auditorium of Umaru Ali Shinkafi polytechnic, Sokoto was attended by dignitaries from Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara states.
The wife of the Governor was awarded by the foundation in recognition of her selfless contribution to the development of women and children in Kebbi state among other awardees.
In her speech, the wife of the Governor Dr. Nafisa Nasir who was represented by wife of the Secretary to the State Government, Hajiya Asma’u Alkali, commended ZAKI’S GEM foundation for touching the lives of the vulnerable in Kebbi, Sokoto and Zamfara states, describing it as rewarding from the religious perspective and called on other non governmental organizations to emulate the foundation.
She expressed delight over the award given to her and promised to continue contributing her quota to better the lives of the vulnerable in Kebbi state.
She called on the students to face their studies with all seriousness in addition to engaging in various skills so as to be self reliant and productive members of the society.
She commended Kebbi state government led by Dr Nasir İdris for his support to the development of women and children in the state.
In her address, the founder, ZAKI’S GEM Dr. Nafisa Abubakar Zaki said the aim of awarding the dignitaries was to show appreciation for their support and commitment to the upliftment of living standard of the vulnerables and the donors for their support and prayed to God to reward them abundantly.
In an interview, the chairman, Kebbi state Contributory Pension Board and Chairman Board of trustees ZAKI’S GEM, Alh Hassan Shallah Gwandu, described the foundation as an institution that has been working round the clock to improve the lives of the vulnerable for years, commending the foundation for opening a business school which he said will go a long way in improving small scale businesses in the states.
Dr. Nafisa Abubakar Zaki, founder ZAKI’S GEM said the foundation has been working tirelessly to improve the economic condition of the vulnerable, even before the current global economic melt down , adding that the foundation has empowered 69,270, 000 people over the years, saying the foundation deemed it necessary to open a business school to improve small scale businesses in Kebbi, Sokoto and Zamfara states, calling on development partners to support the foundation to achieve the set goals.
The wife of the Governor was accompanied by Hajiya Salamatu Bala Tafida, Chairperson ANCOPPS Kebbi state and Principal GGSS Dr Amina Birnin kebbi, Elders forum and family members.
The event had the attendance of Commissioners from Sokoto state, representatives of His Eminence the Sultan of Sokoto, District heads and Students.
Highlights of the event were cash donations, unveiling of Daylight business school and presentations of awards and display of food items.
