The wife of Kebbi State Governor Dr Nafisa Nasir Idris, has celebrated the 2025 Children’s Day with the theme “CHILDREN OUR FUTURE, OUR RESPONSIBILITY” with orphans and vulnerable children of the Orphanage of state ministry of women affairs and social development.
In her speech, the wife of the Governor, Dr Nafisa Nasir, said it is a day dedicated to celebrating and honoring the children globally, it is a time to celebrate their joy, importance and their unique contributions they bring to the society, calling on them to be obedient and face their studies with all seriousness.
She also called on the beneficiaries of the empowerment to use the tricycles judiciously so as to be self reliant.
In their goodwill messages, the state Commander of National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), Alh. Musbahu Iya Kaura, said the Agency is the Federal Government of Nigeria’s response to addressing the scourge of trafficking in persons, and also enumerated the activities of the agency.
Hajiya Zainab Hayatu Bawa, wife of Commissioner for physical planning and urban development, appreciated the wife of the Governor for organizing the program and showing concern to the orphans, praying for the success of the present administration.
In her vote of thanks, permanent Secretary of ministry of women affairs, Dr Suwaiba Salihu, thanked the wife of the Governor for honoring the children, saying the gesture will go a long way in giving the orphans a sense of belonging, praying to Allah to bless her.
Dignitaries who attended the event were Commissioner of women affairs and social development, wives of commissioners, NANAS foundation and Elders forum.
Three orphans were empowered with a tricycle each for self reliance, by the wife of the Governor.
Maryam Ahmad Muhammad who spoke on behalf of the children, appreciated Dr Nafisa for celebrating with them.
Highlights of the event were various competitions by the children, Quiz, Drama presentation, cash donations and presentation of prizes to winners.
