The wife of Kebbi state Governor and founder NANAS Dr Nafisa Nasir Idris, has organised a breast cancer awareness campaign, which took place at the Kalgo medical center Birnin kebbi as part of the celebration of this year’s cancer month.
In her address, Dr Nafisa Nasir Idris thanked the people who attended the awareness campaign and prayed to Allah to bless them graciously. She added that the aim of organizing the campaign was to sensitize women on dangers of breast cancer and to educate them on how to detect the disease early, calling on them to make themselves available for free screening test as the campaign offers.
She commended her husband, the Executive Governor of Kebbi state, Dr Nasir Idris, for his support to the development of women and children in Kebbi state andfor prioritizing the health sector.
In his welcome address, Dr Aminu Haliru Bunza, Special Adviser on health matters to Kebbi state Governor, appreciated the wife of the Governor for organizing the awareness campaign and for her support to the cancer patients in the state and prayed to Allah to bless her, calling on women to go for screening tests, as early detection saves lives.
In their goodwill messages, the representatives of Women in Da’awa, UNICEF, GAIN and WHO, commended the the wife of the Governor for organizing the event, saying it will go a long way in sensitizing women on the disease and improving the lives of women and children in state.
Dignitaries who attended the event were wives of Deputy Governor, Commissioners, Chairmen, Health practitioners, Members of NANAS foundation and Elders forum.
Highlights of the event were lecture presentation and demonstration on self-examination by MWON, flag off of free Cancer screening test for women and cash donations.
Earlier, the campaign featured Road walk which began from Government House and terminated at AP2 round about, Birnin kebbi.
