
The wife of Kebbi State Governor, Dr Nafisa Nasir Idris has welcomed three newly born babies of the year at Fati Lami Women and Children Hospital, Birnin kebbi.
The 1st Baby of the year was a female, weighing 3.5kg, delivered by Maryam Sani at 10.25 am and was named after the wife of the Governor, Nafisa.
The second Baby was a male, weighing 2.5kg, delivered by Maimunatu Sani Zauro at 11.30 am.
The 3rd Baby was also a weighing 3.5kg, delivered by Hauwa’u Muhammad Bello, at 11.55 am.

In an interview with newsmen, Dr. Nafisa Nasir Idris expressed delight while welcoming the Babies of the Year, congratulating the mothers for successful deliveries, calling on pregnant women to go for antenatal care during pregnancy and also practice exclusive breast feeding after delivery so as to have healthy babies.
The wife of the Governor has been championing the program since the inception of the present administration, adding that the administration of Kauran Gwandu has made available free delivery kits for pregnant women in the Hospital.


The CMD/ Permanent Secretary Sir Yahaya memorial Hospital Birnin kebbi, Dr Zaki Abubakar, thanked the wife of the Governor for the kind gesture, saying the program has been in existence for over 24years.
While commending Dr Nafisa for the gesture, the Chief Medical Director/ Permanent Secretary
said such visit will avail the wife of the Governor the opportunity to see for herself the situation of the Hospital and the patients, praying to Allah to bless her.

Dignitaries who accompanied the wife of the Governor were wife of the Deputy Governor, wives of Commissioners, NANAS foundation members and elders forum.
Highlight of the program was the presentation of gifts and cash to the mothers of the Babies of the Year, 1st Baby #200,000, 2nd and 3rd Babies #100,000 each and Baby essentials and financial assistance to other mothers of the newly borns.
