The wife of the Kebbi state Governor, Dr Nafisa Nasir has been conferred with title of Grand Universal Health Coverage (UHC) ambassador by the Kebbi State Ministry of Health and Kebbi Contributory Health Care Management Agency (KECHEMA) in conjunction with NANAS foundation.
The Governor’s wife also witnessed the inauguration of KECHEMA (UHC) Technical Working Group (TWC), held at the presidential lodge, Birnin kebbi.
In her Address, the wife of the Governor, Dr. Nafisa Nasir thanked the Kebbi State Ministry of Health and KECHEMA for the conferment of the title on her, expressing her determination to provide more support to the less privileged in the society through her foundation.
She commended her husband for his support and contribution to the development of the health sector in the state.
In his welcome adress, the State Commissioner of Health, Comrade Yunusa Musa Isma’il represented by the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Dr Shehu Nuhu Koko, said the conferment of the title on the wife of the Governor was in recognition of her support and contribution to the development of maternal health care in the state as well as for sponsoring the enrollment of220 sickle cell patients into KECHEMA scheme for a period of one year, describing the gesture as commendable as it will go a long way in cushioning the hardship the patients go through.
He commended the present administration of Dr. Nasir İdris for prioritizing the health sector.
In his speech, the Executive Secretary, Kebbi Contributory Health Care Management Agency, (KECHEMA), Dr Jafar Augie Muhammad commended the wife of the Governor for sponsoring the enrollment of 220 sickle cell patients in to KECHEMA scheme, saying the aim of the collaboration with NANAS foundation was to improve the health care services in the state.
He also commended the Royal fathers from the four Emirates for enrolling their subjects into KECHEMA programme.
Dignitaries who attended the event were commissioners, wife of the Head of Service and health personnel among others.
Highlights of the event were enrollment of 220 sickle cell patients adopted by Dr. Nafisa Nasir into the scheme, presentation of the title of the Grand universal health coverage Ambassador by Kebbi state chairman KECHEMA Governing Board, Hon. Abubakar Bala Gado Kamba, distribution of drugs and inauguration of KECHEMA Technical Working Group (TWG) by wife of the Governor, inspection of ICT unit (cyber room) and Primary Health Care Development Agency.
