
The wife of Kebbi state Governor, Dr Nafisa Nasir Idris has attended a one day symposium in commemoration of 16 days of activism against Gender Based Violence, 2024, with the theme “UNITE TO END VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN AND GIRLS.” Which took place at the Auditorium of School of Nursing Sciences, Birnin kebbi.

In her address, the wife of the Governor, Dr. Nafisa Nasir who was represented by the Commissioner of Women Affairs and Social Development, Hajiya Halima Hassan Kamba, expressed delight for being included in USAID activities and appreciated the support of the international body in improving the lives of women and children in the state, adding that the state government under the leadership of Governor Nasir Idris Kauran Gwandu has taken measures to eliminate all forms of Gender Based Violence and in addition to supporting the victims in the state, calling on the society to fight the ugly trend.


In his address, Usman Falaye, State Team lead, who was represented by Badejo Adebayo, said the aim of the event was to join the global community and Kebbi state to create more awareness about the menace.
He emphasized the need to end all forms of Gender Based Violence.


The program featured lectures and discussions on GBV.
Dignitaries who attended the event were civil society groups, NANAS foundation, health personnel and Elders forum.
