The wife of Kebbi State Governor, Haj. Nafisa Nasir İdris, has visited Maiyama General Hospital in Mayama local government, to see for herself the situation of the malnourished children and the hospital.
On arrival, the wife of the Governor and her entourage visited the palace of the District head of Maiyama, Sarkin Kudu, Dr Muhammad Aliyu Maiyama.
In his welcome address, the District head of Maiyama Dr. Muhammad Aliyu Maiyama, commended the wife of the Governor for the visit and her efforts in contributing to the improvement of maternal health in the state and prayed to God to bless her abundantly.
He enumerated some challenges facing the District and pleaded with the wife of the Governor to inform her husband of the challenges with a view to addressing them.
In her address, Haj. Nafisa Nasir İdris thanked the District head and his subjects for the warm reception accorded her, saying the purpose of her visit to the palace was to inform him of her official assignment at General Hospital, Maiyama in addition to seeking his blessing, promising to intimate the Governor on the challenges facing the district for solutions.
At the Hospital, Haj. Nafisa Nasir İdris, commended the international non governmental organization, Medicine Sans Frontiers (MSF/Doctors without Boaders) and Kebbi State ministery of health for their commitment to the improvement of health care services in the State.
She assured government’s commitment to improving health care service delivery in the State.
In his remarks, the Kebbi State Commissioner of Health, Alh. Yunusa Musa Ismail commended the wife of the Governor for her support and contributions to the development of women and children in the state, describing Medicine Sans Frontiers (MSF/Doctors without Boarders) as an international organization that has been in collaboration with Kebbi State Ministry of Health in taking care of malnourished children, calling for more support from the state government.
In her address, the project officer Medicine Sans Frontiers, (MSF/Doctors without Boaders) Amanda Tombush explained what the NGO offers to the people which include;
provision of medical care to help people survive catastrophic situations and provision of emergency medical assistance to the people in need.
She solicited for more support from the state government so as to achieve the desired objectives.
Dignitaries who accompanied the wife of the Governor during the visit were wives of State Deputy Governor, Head of service, State Commissioner of health and the permanent Secretary, permanent secretary state ministry of Budget and Economic planning, Senior Special Adviser on health, Chairman Maiyama local government, Members of NANAS foundation, Health personnel and relatives
Highlights of the visit were inspection of various wards of the nutrition unit, which includes phase 1A and 2B, ER TRIAGE, intensive care unit (ICU) and laboratory.
