The lecture took place at the Gwandu local government hall in Gwandu on Friday, 15/3/2024 which coincided with 5th of Ramadan 1445 A H. The lecture was themed; importance of moral upbringing of girl child in Islam (Muhimmancin Tarbiyyan Ya Macce a Musulunci).
In her remarks the wife the Governor Dr Nafisa Nasir expressed delight over the warm reception accorded her, said the aim of organizing the lecture was to educate the women as regards the holy month of Ramadan and to call on them to intensify efforts in ensuring the proper upbringing of their children.
She added that the event was also organised to empower 300 women of the local government to cushion the effects of the economic crisis people are going through.
She appreciated the Ulama for their contribution towards the success of the program.
In her speech, the Kebbi state Commissioner of women affairs and social development, Hajiya Halima Hassan Kamba thanked the wife of the Governor for organizing the program, saying it will go a long way in cushioning the hardship people are currently facing, announcing the program will be organize in the other emirates of the state.
In his welcome address, Sole administrator of Gwandu local government, Alh Atiku Ahmed culture, thanked Dr. Nafisa Nasir for the love she has shown to the people of Gwandu local government, describing her as a kind-hearted person who has provided support to the people of the state.
The Ulama, Malam Umaru Cheberu, Malama Hauwa’u Abubakar and host of others, who dwelled on the topic; the importance of moral upbringing of the girl child in Islam “(MUHIMMANCIN TARBIYYAN YA MACE A MUSULUNCI)” called on parents to intensify efforts and prayers in ensuring proper upbringing of their children, saying moral behavior begins at home.
Dignitaries who attended the event were wives of Secretary to the state Government ,Commissioners, House assembly members, Chairmen and elders.
Each beneficiary was given 10,000 cash and a bag of rice as support from the Governor’s wife.
Highlights of the event were lecture presentations, special prayer for wife of the Governor, Reading from the holy Quran and presentation of cash and food items to the beneficiaries.
Earlier, the wife of the Governor paid courtesy visit to the district head of Gwandu (Sarkin Gabas Gwandu), Alh.Zayyanu Bello.
She said the aim of her visit was to seek for his royal blessing, saying she deemed it necessary to organise the Ramadan lecture in Gwandu being her home town.
In his response, the Sarkin Gabas Gwandu, Alh. Zayyanu Bello, thanked her for the visit and appreciated the governor’s wife and her husband for bringing more developmental projects to the state.
He also thanked the Governor for appointing former chairman of the local government as the sole administrator.
