The walk which started from Abdullahi Fodio Palace Birnin Kebbi and terminated at the State Ministry of women affairs and social development Birnin kebbi, was attended by wife of the Secretary to the state government, Hajiya Asma’u Alkali, Commissioner of women affairs and its permanent secretary, Hajiya Halima Hassan Kamba and Hajiya Aisha Maikurata, Chaiperson ANCOPPS, Hajiya Salamatu Tafida and various women groups carrying placards with inspirational quotes.
In her adress, the wife of the Governor, Dr Nafisa Nasir İdris, congratulated women from all walks of life on the occasion of the international women’s day, and appreciated women for honoring her invitation to attend the event, calling on women to be supportive to one another so as to bring more development to the society, urging them to ensure proper upbringing of their children in addition to being obedient to their husbands.
She commended her husband Dr. Nasir Idris for contributing his quota to the development of women in Kebbi state.
In her welcome address, the State Commissioner of women affairs and social development, said the aim of organizing the fitness walk was to sensitize the public on the significance of the day and called on women to strive hard in all aspects of life and keep the flag flying.
She appreciated the wife of the Governor for supporting the course of women in Kebbi state.
In their good will messages, the Chairperson ANCOPPS Kebbi state chapter, Chairperson NAWOJ, Hajiya Hassana Koko, Zaki’s GEM and other leaders of women groups, congratulated the wife of the Governor on the celebration of international women’s day and commended her for championing the development of women in Kebbi state.
The event was attended by various women groups, including; NCWS, NAWOJ, Mata zalla, Women voice, NYSC Corp members, Women with disabilities and host of others.
Highlights of the event were entertainment and presentation of cash to various women groups by the wife of the Governor.
