KEBBI GOVERNOR’S WIFE VISITS OLD CORRECTIONAL CENTER, BIRNIN KEBBI, SETS  INMATES FREE.

As part of activities  marking  Nigera’s 63rd independence anniversary, the wife of kebbi state Governor, Hajiya Nafisa Nasir Idris has paid a visit to Old Correctional centre,Takalau  in Birnin Kebbi, where she paid for the release of eight inmates who were unable to pay their fines in court.

This magnanimity by the wife of the Governor led to the release of the inmates so as  to rejoin their families.

She called on them to consider the situation as an act of God and advised them to refrain from any act  that will bring them back to correctional centers so as to be useful members of the society.

She sympathized and prayed for the remaining inmates in the correctional center.

In his welcome address, Chief Superintendent of Correctional Center, Ibrahim Tafida thanked the wife of the Governor for the visit, describing it as commendable and worthy of emulation by all.

        He  also commended the present administration for freeing over 200 inmates recently. 

In their good will messages, the wife of the Secretary to the State Government ( SSG), Hajiya Asma’u Alkali Chairperson  High Level Woman Advocates (HILWA) and Alh. Aminu Kalgo, Secretary Nigerian Bar AssociationKebbi State chapter, commended the wife of the Governor for the gesture and prayed to God to bless her abundantly.

During the visit, the wife of the Governor distributed food items which include; Rice, Guinea corn, Millet, cooked food, breads and detergents.

Dignitaries present at the event were Wife of the SSG, Chief Superintendent of correctional center, members of NBA, officers and men of the correctional center and family members.

Highlights of the visit were presentations of items, cash and Holy Qurans to the inmates.
