The wife of Kebbi State Governor and Chairperson Nafisa Nasiru Charity Development Foundation ( NANAS) Hajiya Nafisa Nasir Idris has celebrated the international Day of the Girl with female students in Birnin Kebbi the State capital, which took place at Kawara Sports and Recreational Center Birnin Kebbi, with the theme: INVEST IN GIRLS RIGHTS: OUR LEADESHIP AND WELLBEING.
Speaking at occasion, the wife of the Governor, called on the students to face their studies with all seriousness so as to achieve their goals in future and be good ambassadors of the society, describing the day as important which is set aside to advocate full spectrum of Girls rights by UNICEF.
She commended Teachers for imparting sound knowledge in the students, praying to God to bless them accordingly, adding that the present administration will continue to do its best in improving the the educational standard in the State.
In his welcome address, Alh. Aminuddeen Attahiru Chairman NANAS foundation, said the foundation deemed it necessary to celebrate the day with the female students to educate them on the essence of celebrating the day, considering them as mothers of tomorrow, adding that one of the objectives of the foundation is promoting the development of Girls and women in the State.
In their good will messages, wife of the state Deputy Governor, Hajiya Maryam Umar Tafida, wife of the SSG Hajiya Asmau Alkali, Commissioner, Ministry of women affairs, Hajiya Halima Hassan Kamba, Manager UBA Bank, Birnin Kebbi branch Alh. Ibrahim Bala and Hajiya Zinatu Yusuf, thanked the wife of the Governor for organizing the event and prayed to God to bless her abundantly, calling on the Girls to pay attention to their studies and shun social vices so as to be useful members of the society.
Dignitaries present at the occasion were wives of the Deputy Governor, SSG, Head of service, commissioners, State commissioner of women affairs, Executive Secretary, State Primary Health care Development Agency, principals, Teachers, NYSC Corp members and Students.
Highlights of the occasion were presentations of school bag to each student containing books, sanitary pads, toothbrush, toothpaste, pen, food and soft drinks, lecture, cash donations, drama presentations, display by students, music and dance displays.
