
The Nafisa Nasir Charity Development Foundation (NANAS) has empowered women and youths who underwent three months training under the foundation, in different skills, comprising tailoring, cosmetology, make up, shoe making and catering.
The graduation ceremony took place at the foundation’s secretariat, Akoko plaza, Birnin Kebbi.


In her address, the Wife of the Governor and founder NANAS foundation, Hajiya Nafisa Nasir Idris expressed delight over the successful completion of the training, calling on the graduands to use what they learnt as a means of improving their lives and their families, as well be self reliant so as to shun idleness and step down the knowledge to others and also commended the NANAS Chairman for a job well done.
She thanked her husband, the Kebbi State Governor, Dr Nasir Idris, for his support in improving the lives of the vulnerables in the State, calling on people to continue to support the government for more dividends of democracy.


In his welcome address, the Chairman NANAS foundation, Alh Aminu Attahiru Nassarawa, said the aim of the training was to eradicate poverty and idleness amongst young women and youth, adding that the foundation has trained 500 women and youths in different skills which if put into practice will sustain them throughout their lives, calling on people to learn a trade and avoid idleness.


In their good will messages, the project Co-ordinator NANAS foundation,Mal. Bashar Umar Ika, Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Haj. Halima Hassan Kamba, Commissioner for Humanitarian and Empowerment, Alh. Hamidu Jar kuka, Permanent Secretary Ministry of Information and Culture, Alh. Sa’idu Buhari, wife of the SSG, Haj. Asma’u Alkali, Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alh. Garba Dutsin mari and Chairman Birnin kebbi Local Government Council , Alh Dahiru Nayaya Ambursa, congratulated and appreciated Dr Nafisa for the initiative, saying it will go along way in reducing idleness in the society, calling on the graduands not to sell the items given to them but use them for the purpose meant, praying to Allah to bless the foundation to continue with such a gesture.

Alh. Garba Dutsin mari who spoke on behalf of the State Commissioners announced a donation to the foundation of #10,000,000 and Faruk Soja, former councilor Nassarwa 1, #1,000,000.
Some beneficiaries who spoke to newsmen, thanked the wife of the Governor for her kind gesture, prayed Allah to bless her abundantly.


Dignitaries who attended the ceremony were Commissioners and their wives, Permanent Secretaries, SSA’s and Elders forum.
Highlights of the event were cash donations of # 30, 000 to graduands of cosmetology, Sewing machines, shoe making machines and make up kits to the graduands by the dignitaries, cutting of a cake and presentation of certificates.
