The Nafisa Nasir Charity Development Foundation (NANAS), in collaboration with Medicaid Cancer Foundation has screened 100 men of over 40 years on prostate cancer for early detection in Kebbi.
The Chairman of NANAS foundation, Alhaji Aminudeen Attahiru Nasarawa, made this known in Birnin Kebbi at the flag- off of screening exercise on Saturday.
He said that the screening was part of the efforts to create awareness on the dangers of prostate cancer in men.


” November is observed as Movement or National prostate cancer awareness month to create awareness, render support for treatment to victims of cancer disease.
” The theme for this year’s campaign is focused on raising awareness on prostate cancer; it is risk, symptoms, diagnosis, treatment and sensitise people on the importance of early detection.
” Prostate cancer is the second most common cancers in men which calls for urgent attention,” the Chairman said.
Earlier, the Coordinator of MEDICAID cancer foundation, Alhaji Shua’ibu Muhammed Diri, explained that MCF and NANAS collaborated to screen 100 men above 40 years as part of 2024 Awareness Month.

” We have now concluded the screening with even more than our target. This shows how people are interested in knowimg their health status,” he said.
A Cancer Specialist, Dr. Muhammed Jamilu, spoke at length on the need for men above 40 years of age to go for check- up.
This, he said, would help in reducing the rate of prostate cancer in Kebbi state.

Also speaking, the District head of Birnin Kebbi (Ubandoman Gwandu), Alhaji Sadiq Ibrahim Sa’ad, commended MCF and NANAS foundations for coming together in one voice to fight prostate cancer in the state.
” This is a welcome development in our community; we assure you of our support in enlightening our people, especially at the rural areas on the need to go to hospital when the need arises,” he assured.
