THE FOUNDER & CHAIRPERSON NANAS FOUNDATION, CELEBRATES WORLD MENSTRUAL HYGIENE DAY 2024 WITH FEMALE STUDENTS.

The wife of Kebbi State Governor and Founder Nanas Foundation, Dr. Nafisa Nasir Idris, has celebrated World Menstrual Hygiene Day, 2024 with the theme: KNOW WHAT IS NORMAL AND WHAT IS NOT NORMAL ABOUT MENSTRUAL HYGIENE with students of comprehensive Girls Secondary School Argungu, held at the school.

In her remarks, Dr. Nafisa Nasir Idris said the aim of celebrating the day worldwide was to sensitize women on the importance of hygiene during menstrual period so as to prevent themselves from contacting infectious diseases.

She called on the school girls to imbibe the habit of cleanliness at all times and face their studies with all seriousness.

In her speech, the Commissioner of Basic and Secondary Education, Dr. Halima Muhammad Bande called on the students to pay attention to what they will be taught in addition to paying attention to their studies as well as respect their teachers.

In their goodwill messages, wife of the Secretary to the State government, Hajiya Asma’u Alkali, State Commissioner of Women Affairs and Social Development, Hajiya Halima Hassan Kamba and Chairperson ANCOPPS women wing, Hajiya Salamatu Bala Tafida, called on the Students to be of good behavior and learn the new national anthem.

In her vote of thanks, the principal of the school, Hajiya Hau’wa Haliru Sarki thanked the wife of the Governor for celebrating the day in her school and for her support to women and children in the state, enumerating some of the challenges facing the school and appealed to the Governor’s wife to assist in addressing them.

Dignitaries who accompanied the wife of the Governor included; wives of the State Duputy Governor, SSG, Commissioners and sole administrators.

Highlights of the event were Recitation of the holy Quran, drama presentation, donation of one million naira by Alhaji Khairullah Abdullahi to 234 graduating students, hygiene talk and presentation of Hygiene bags to each student, containing tooth paste,brush, sanitary pad, soap and detergent.

Earlier, the wife of the Governor paid homage on the Emir of Argungu, Alhaji Sama’ila Muhammad Mera at his palace.

Dr. Nafisa Nasir Idris told the monarch that the aim of the visit was to sensitize female students on importance of hygiene as part of the celebration marking the World Menstrual Hygiene Day, 2024.

In his speech, the Emir of Argungu, Alhaji Sama’ila Muhammad Mera, appreciated the wife of the Governor for the visit and for organizing the event in Argungu. 

He commended the Kauran Gwandu’s led administration for the renovation of all the palaces of the four Emirs and prayed to Allah to bless him abundantly.
