She made the call at a sensitization campaign against child malnutrition, organized by Food Demonstration Kebbi State, in collaboration with Catalysing Strengthened Action for Healthy Diets and Resilience, held at the primary health centre, Gulumbe, adding that Kebbi State is blessed with varieties of nutritious food that are affordable to the common man, hence the need to keep children healthy.
She promised to give her maximum support in eradicating child related diseases and commended the development partners for their efforts in sensitizing the mothers of the community.
In her remarks, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Budget and Economic planning, Hajiya A’isha M. Usman said statistics have shown that six out of ten children are malnourished, hence the need for more sensitization Programmes to reverse the ugly trend.
In their goodwill messages, the representatives of WHO, USAID and Nutrition international called on mothers to make good use of what they learnt during the sensitization campaign so as to achieve the desired goal, hoping that the sensitization Programme will go a long way in educating the society on the dangers of malnutrition in children.
In his vote of thanks, the Sole Administrator of Birnin kebbi local Government, Alh. Dahiru Nayaya Ambursa thanked the Primary Health Care Development Agency and the State Committee on Food for selecting Gulumbe as the venue for the sensitization Programme.
On his part, the District head of Gulmbe, Alh. Aminu Abubakar, expressed his delight over the sensitization campaign expressing his total support for the continuation of the programme for the development of the community.
Earlier, the wife of the Governor paid homage to the District head of Gulumbe to seek for royal blessing and support to the present government.
